Shiva Mantra Nov.7

In the Full Moon Mantra classes, we will be following the Vedic tradition of passing on sanskrit mantras. Mantras have been passed down to me following a lineage of teachers. Every mantra I teach, has been practiced by myself in an uninterrupted sitting practice. It will have been passed along from my teacher in the same manner. The energy behind the lineage is said to impart strength to the mantra.

This Month’s Mantra will focus on Shiva. The Shiva mantra is a wonderful calming and healing mantra. This mantra is especially dear to those who meditate or practice yoga as it is a mantra of self control, discipline and dissolution. We’ll learn his iconography and chant to celebrate and consecrate the power in the vibration of the sounds of this mantra.

Mantra is a sound, syllable, word, or group of words that are used to create transformation in the mind, and the body.

Meditation is a technique in which an individual trains the mind. Meditation is used to clear the mind and studies have shown that it will ease many health issues such as; high blood pressure, depression, and anxiety.

The full moon is a time when a tremendous amount of energy is experienced. It is said that whatever is going on in your body and mind at the time of a full moon will be amplified.

Starting a mantra meditation practice during the full moon is an opportunity to add the energy of the moon to your personal intention. In the Vedic tradition certain mantras are used to bring the individual a focus in their lives (abundance, health, compassion).
