Drinking responsibly is important to well-being on several levels. That said, overdoing a holiday celebration is not uncommon, and the morning-after effects can be distinctly unpleasant. Fortunately, there are some effective, natural remedies to get you back in the swing of things:
– Vitamin B complex: The fatigue and shaky feeling on the morning after are likely due to a depletion of B vitamins, which are, among other things, responsible for the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins.
– Ginger root (Zingiber officinale): Long used to quell motion sickness, ginger tea contains anti-spasmodic effects to calm nausea.
– Nux vomica: This homeopathic remedy also has a long history of righting an upside-down stomach.
– N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC): An amino acid, NAC contributes to the production of glutathione, which helps flush the body of toxins and alleviates a hangover.
Other tips: Drink lots of water before, during and after the party and eat before drinking.
Finally, choose pure alcohol over “dirty” drinks. Vodka, gin and white wine will cause less severe hangovers than scotch, bourbon, red wine and brandy.

Sinus Headache: prepare a paste of 1/2 teaspoon Ginger powder, mixed with water and warm. Apply to forehead. Expect a mild burning sensation. (this one relates to kapha constitution or imbalance)
Notice your breathe. Close each nostril, one at a time and force air out. If one discharges air more forcefully, close that nostril and breathe through the other until the headache subsides.
Temporal Headaches indicate an exess Pitta in the stomach (this one often comes with Migraine or overindulgence). Drink a tea of 1/2 teaspoon each of Cumin and Coriander seeds in a cup of hot water. )
*Dr. Lad mentions applying a sandlewood paste to the temples. I have not found a source for Sandalwood powder. If you find one, do let me know.
Occipital Headaches are due to toxins in the colon. Take one teaspoon of flaxseed at bedtime with a glass of warm milk and apply a ginger paste behind the ears at the same time.
