Finding Center – An Inversion Workshop
Taming gravity in a handstand can be difficult. But it’s completely possible!
Join Melita Mollohan, Yoga Therapist with assistance by Tommy Brown, avid adventure athlete and inversion junkie in this fun and educational inversion workshop where you will be taught safely how to fly in any inversion you are working on!
This workshop aims to build your core strength so you can confidently progress from a supported handstand or arm balance practice so that you will be able to easily move it to the middle of the room. We will go over tips and tricks to teach your body how to access stabilizing muscles along the kinetic chain. You will leave this workshop with easy techniques and new ways to challenge and improve your inversion practice.
Poses that we will focus on to build up to our inversions: plank, side plank, plank foot twist, forward fold, bound ankle floor lift, crow, jump back from crow, side crow, and down dog hip over foundation jumps. Inversion poses we will work on once we have found our center: headstand, forearm balance, and handstand.
This workshop is accessible to everyone at every level of yoga practice. Beginners welcome and encouraged to come as this will teach you additional information to make your yoga practice easier and more accessible while building the strength you need to assist with the more challenging poses.
