BlissBlissBliss announces a new addition to the BlissMama Yoga program: Postnatal Yoga! Now BlissMamas can return to their BlissYoga practice 6 – 8 weeks after the baby is born with two new classes:

BlissMama Postnatal Yoga

First Sunday of the Month

10:00 – 11:15am

First Class: Sunday, April 3rd

BlissMama Postnatal Yoga is a class specifically tailored for the new mama, 6 – 14 weeks postpartum. During the postpartum period, attention shifts from self-care of the mother to full-time newborn nurturing. The experience can be filled with an array of emotions, from happiness and joy to anxiety and fear, as well as feelings of fatigue and tension. The class gives new mothers permission to shift the focus back to themselves for 75 minutes, to safely re-strengthen and tone the body, improve energy levels and feel more refreshed and emotionally balanced. BlissMama Postnatal Yoga is taught once a month in a fun and rejuvenating environment, and includes time for discussion and new mama bonding. All levels welcome, no prior yoga experience necessary.

BlissMama and Baby Yoga

Thursdays, 11am – 12pm

First Class: April 7th

BlissMama and Baby Yoga offers a fun and gentle approach to re-strengthening the mother’s body after pregnancy and labor, increasing energy levels and providing self-care while socializing with other new BlissMamas and their babies. The poses target core and pelvic muscles, tone arms and legs, and release tension in shoulders and neck. Breathing and relaxation exercises are also introduced to alleviate stress. The class also provides a peaceful environment for bonding with your baby and learning techniques for baby movement and massage. Mothers with babies that are 6 weeks old to active crawlers are welcome and no prior yoga experience is necessary.

BlissMama Prenatal Yoga

Tuesdays, 6pm

BlissMama Prenatal yoga is a practice for mothers-to-be that includes breathing, meditation, movement, and deep relaxation to support the pregnant body and mind during this magical journey. BlissMamas will connect with their babies, while developing graceful strength, abiding courage and a calm focus to prepare for labor, childbirth, and motherhood. The class is taught in an open and safe environment for BlissMamas to share concerns and wonders they are experiencing. Must be 12 weeks pregnant to begin classes and no prior yoga experience is necessary.

The BlissMama Pre/Postnatal Yoga program was developed by Yoga Alliance certified instructor, Heidi Sherwin, who has been teaching yoga since 2008 and is the mother to two amazing daughters. BlissMama classes are safely and thoughtfully designed to attend to the pregnant and postpartum mother and their specific physical and emotional needs. All classes include movement, breathing exercises, meditation and deep relaxation, as well as baby yoga and massage in the BlissMama and Baby class. Heidi’s passionate and joyful approach to Pre/Postnatal yoga creates a positive atmosphere for mothers-to-be, new mothers and their newborns. Her personal birth experiences and postpartum healing include a C-section and a VBAC natural birth. Her long-time interest in mother and baby wellness has inspired her passion to help other BlissMamas on their motherhood journey.
