Introduction to Ayurvedic Nutrition With Molly
Ayurveda, a Sanskrit word meaning the “Science of Life”, is India’s 5000 year old medical system. It is often referred to as Yoga’s “Sister Science” as both are rooted in the ancient Vedic tradition.
Ayurveda teaches us to balance our minds and bodies using food, herbal medicine, daily routine practices, and living in harmony with nature.
Food is at the heart of an Ayurvedic lifestyle as the digestive tract is said to be the physical root of all disease.
In this 2-hour workshop, we will review the foundations of Ayurveda and its unique tri-dosha approach. We will then focus on nutrition principles specific for balancing each mind-body type (dosha). We will also discuss the importance of seasonal eating. Handouts of class material and recipes will be provided.
Prior understanding of Ayurveda is preferred but not necessary.
