Ayurveda Seasonal Wellness Series: Spring
Saturday, April 8th
1 – 3pm
Ayurveda, Sanskrit for the “science of life”, is India’s 5,000 year old medical system. It is commonly referred to as Yoga’s sister science, as both are rooted in the ancient Vedic tradition. Yoga teaches us how to balance our mind, while Ayurveda teaches us how to balance our body through the use of food, herbs, and living in harmony with nature. The latter is most important during times of seasonal transition when we must modify our diet, lifestyle, and even our Yoga practice to adapt to the changes happening around us. In this 2-hour workshop, we will review the foundations of Ayurveda and the tri-dosha approach. We will then focus on diet and lifestyle routines specific for the spring (Kapha) season. The workshop will end with a Yoga, pranayama, and meditation practice specific for the season. Handouts of class material will be provided. Prior understanding of Ayurveda is preferred but not necessary.
