Here is what Ayruveda say's about Sprains and Strains: A sprain (involving ligaments) is a pitta condition and involves pain, swelling and blackish-bluish discoloration. A strain (involving tendons) is a vata condition and affects the muscle tissue and involves pain. Wrap it up, Drink some juice, Soak it, Apply a Healing Paste, Try some herbs Drink Some Juice: Drink pomegranate or pineapple for their anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory effects) This will help especially to pacify pitta. Soak It: For sprain soak the affected area in hot water with t teaspoons of brown mustard seeds. To relive the swelling soak the area for 15 minutes in hot water with 2 tablespoons of salt per gallon...
